Partial Care Program

Understanding Partial Care in New Jersey

Partial Care (PC) programs provide a structured and supportive environment for individuals who require intensive treatment but not 24-hour supervision. This level of care bridges the gap between inpatient and outpatient treatment, offering stability while allowing clients to maintain independence.

Adult Partial Care Program (PC)

This level of outpatient treatment generally provides 20 or more hours of clinical services per week for individuals who do not require around-the-clock care.
During sessions of approximately five to six hours per day, five days per week, clients receive:

  • Comprehensive assessments

  • Group, individual, and family therapy

  • Educational workshops and skill-building activities

  • Medication management and psychiatric support

  • Holistic and experiential therapies

PC programs meet the needs of individuals struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Clients have access to Beachway’s full spectrum of therapies in a safe, therapeutic setting

What to Expect from Partial Care Treatment

Most days include group therapy sessions focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and interpersonal growth, complemented by individual and family sessions for personalized support. Clients often enter PC programs in early recovery or after stabilization and benefit from consistent structure and accountability.

These services are typically offered Monday through Friday, allowing participants to return home or to a sober living residence in the evenings. This model combines the intensity of inpatient care with the flexibility of outpatient treatment.

Benefits of the Partial Care Program

  • Comprehensive daily structure with therapy and skill development
  • Flexible scheduling that supports work, school, and family obligations
  • Ongoing access to medical and psychiatric care
  • Peer and community support that reinforces long-term recovery
  • Smooth transition between levels of care, such as IOP or outpatient

Who Can Benefit from Partial Care?

 Partial Care is ideal for:

  • Individuals recovering from substance use disorders who no longer need detox or inpatient care

  • Those with co-occurring mental health conditions requiring consistent therapeutic support

  • Clients seeking to stabilize early in recovery while maintaining personal responsibilities

It can also be recommended for clients to enter local sober living homes while attending PC groups to enhance focus on healing and reduce environmental triggers during the early stages of recovery.

Transitioning from Partial Care to Long-Term Recovery

Upon completing Partial Care, clients often move into Intensive Outpatient (IOP) or standard outpatient programs for continued growth. Beachway’s team works with each client to develop a personalized aftercare plan, ensuring ongoing accountability and connection to recovery resources.
