Partial Care Program
Understanding Partial Care: Your Guide to Partial Care Programs (PC) in New Jersey
Adult Partial Care Program (PC)
This level of outpatient treatment generally provides 20 or more hours of services per week for a person who does not require 24/7 care. During sessions of approximately five to six hours per day, five days per week, client should expect to receive assessment; group, individual and family therapy; education; medication management; and therapeutic activities. PC meets the need of people struggling with addiction and co-occurring conditions. PC clients can access Beachway’s full spectrum of therapies. These programs typically include group therapy for a majority of the day with individual sessions, family sessions, and medical sessions included. Often clients in PC are in need of stabilization and are in early recovery, but are not going through active withdrawal. These services are day programs Monday through Friday. Client are able to receive treatment in a facility during the day and return home or to a structured living environment at night. Partial Care programs are perfect for those who have work responsibilities or are taking care of their family at home. They allow more freedom compared to inpatient services but offer more direct care than IOP or OP only programs. Partial hospitalization programs are a type of outpatient care that’s suited to people with dual conditions. This includes people who require outpatient therapy services during the day and specific accommodation at night (for their own benefit or safety) without around-the-clock supervision.
*It can be recommended for clients to enter into local sober living homes while attending PC groups, to work on early recovery and healing outside of their home environment. This can be beneficial for those with many responsibilities which may make it unlikely that they can focus solely on their treatment during this crucial early time in recovery.
